All lectures during this Project are documented in my Exercises blog post เดฆ്เดฆി(˵ •̀ แด - ˵ ) ✧
3. SHOOTING (GROUP) & EDITING (INDIVIDUAL)
3.1 Shooting
I was assigned as the leader of my shooting group so Mr. Martin asked us to divide our roles into:
- Director
- Assistant Director
- Art Director
- DOP
- Camera Assistant
- Boom Mic
- Actors
Overall, the shooting day was fun. My teammates were very helpful and we managed to finish things quick (mainly because some of them had class after) but I was very happy with the shots we got.
3.2 Editing
I started by renaming the shots we got into specific Scenes and Shots numbers then arranged them into the order I wanted.
I then edited the Ins and Outs of specific scenes so they wouldn't go for too long.
I played around with editing styles like in Fig 3.2.3, I oc=verlapped the same clip three times to give emphasis on the "pulling bag" action.
Afterwards, I started adding all the sound effects I got from Pixabay.com. Additionally, I addded a song from a game I like called "Death Approaches" by HOYO-Mix. I added this song as background music because I like the climax of it and thought I could make a good action edit out of it.
I realised I didn't smooth out the zoom out shot yet so I fixed that.
I then started to do a bit of colour grading to some of the shots to make the scene give more emotion. Like red for an intense moment and brownish for a flashback scene.
Finally, I added some text to the video to give a convincing feeling that this was indeed a trailer for an upcoming movie.

4.2 Process
I shot the base videos around my neighbourhood area and mostly focused on getting the horizon line to the middle of the screen just so I could compose graphics onto it easier in the editing process.
I started with drawing out each frame of myself for the video, closely following the storyboard. I drew in 5 different styles in total. All of which was drawn in Procreate on my iPad.
I edited using Capcut as instructed and started putting the drawn out frames. Most of the frames were there for only 0.4 seconds. An interesting thing I did was creating an overlay of myself going infront of the "LOOK AT ME" text and transitioning into the drawn frames.
To match with some of the drawings, I edited some scenes to be more desaturated or saturated like in Fig 4.2.3 where the intended style was Manga-esque so i edited the background video to be in Black and White.

5. REFLECTION
I had unexpected fun during this Project! Truth be told I wasn't really looking forward to working in a group for the shooting practice since I'm not one to really be socially active. Let alone I became the Director of the whole thing so I was a bit nervous. But the whole team was very nice and knew what to do what and where. We managed things efficiently and editing the footage itself was very fun too since I incorporated a song I liked.
As for the TikTok, I initially was a bit lost on what to do. But making the storyboard helped me get th general idea of things. Drawing around 50 frames was very tiring but worth it to see everything come together in the end. Overall, this was a fun expereince.
